Story
A powerful CEO risks his career and family when he begins a tumultuous relationship with his much younger intern. Jean Reno filmed scenes for the film, but they were cut from the finished film. starring Nicole Kidman/Cynthia Erivo/James Norton/Chris McClausland/Benson Boone (2024). Female "empowerment" takes the form of a story in which a much older woman goes after a much younger man. This time, however, the guy seems old enough to be her grandson.
Except for Lolita, of course
How long will they keep this tired, old plan going? I know that old Hollywood was full of older actors starring opposite younger actresses, but the plot of the story had nothing to do with her age. And the older actor’s character targets her because she was younger. It seems like movies these days are lazy, with the same old, older woman/younger man story, but the older woman is purposefully after the man and uses her age as some kind of upsetting, validating factor. .It’s funny though, when the male characters are portrayed with much younger actresses, they’re seen as dirty old men going through a midlife crisis.
To prove to herself that she’s still worth it
When an older woman does it, it’s considered “elegant”; and “liberated.” As someone else here pointed out, what’s wrong with the hypocrisy and double standards. This story is getting tiresome, but if they want to push it further, let’s call it what it is. A dirty old woman trying to assert herself by catching a younger man. I mean, that’s what women say about men in the same situation. We haven’t heard in years that older actresses are being “unfairly” aged out of so many movies compared to older actors who can still get great roles.
Let’s see some creativity in storytelling
Hardly. In fact, there are a lot of great roles going to older actresses. But why do they have so much to do with this theme of being paired with a much younger man. Surely there are parts for better women that have some substance to them, not fakery. all the way to this old trope.
Not just their attempts at validation with young men
Let’s see some storylines where we have some great older actresses but don’t have a young man in them. We need to see women as successful women through their abilities and offerings.
